Croatia is considered as a Central-European and also Mediterranean country. In 2013, Croatia became the 28th full member of European Union. The Croatian educational system is ranked high in comparison to other countries in the world. There are currently 8 universities throughout the country with the most prestigious one being The University of Zagreb. Located in the capital of Zagreb, the university was established in 1669 with its facilities spread throughout the city. It is the largest university in Croatia and the oldest one operating in south-eastern Europe. Founded in 1919, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Zagreb is one of the most established veterinary medicine schools in Europe. It is also one of the few places in Europe where you could study Veterinary Medicine in English at undergraduate level. The university has been offering an English program for Veterinary Medicine Studies for international students since 2016. The move toward providing English education follows the Faculty's ambition to create a more diverse student population and make its veterinary courses more accessible to aspiring students worldwide.
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Zagreb is positively evaluated and approved by EAEVE (The European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education) from 2002. This means you can start practicing veterinary medicine in Europe immediately after your graduation without taking any extra exam. Also, all the ISO 9001 Bureau Veritas criteria concerning the quality control (scientific, teaching and vocational) are met and Faculty possess its valid certificate.
The Veterinary Campus, a peaceful oasis in the central - eastern part of the city is located in Vjekoslav Heinzel Street, a stone’s throw from downtown.

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Zagreb is offering an IUG degree programme in Veterinary Medicine for a small class of 25 students. This is a six-year degree programme and taught entirely in English. The teaching method includes small classrooms, which enable personal attention and meticulousness. For these reasons, to study veterinary medicine in Croatia is rapidly becoming a popular option for international students. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM).
