THE PROGRAM IS CURRENTLY CLOSED PENDING THE RESULTS OF A STUDY OF VISITING ELECTIVES To be updated by the end of June 2019
Description • The program is based on Bilateral Agreement signed 1993 between Medical Schools of McGill University and University of Zagreb that has been extended to additional medical schools listed below. • In 1996 AMCA Quebec established a fellowship to support the medical student exchange component of the Agreement. The fellowship covers four weeks of clinical clerkship in one of McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) hospitals. • Successful applicants to AMCA QC Fellowship application (see 2. below) are levied the tuition fee at McGill University ($400) and are eligible for a stipend towards their stay in Montreal (up to $750 / 4 weeks).

Procedure • Applicants for the program have to apply to two applications described below.
1. Fees
- There is a one-time, non-refundable registration fee of $500 for International Students that will be charged to each student who creates an account on the AFMC student portal.
- Application requires payments for registration with Collège des médecins du Québec (CMQ; http://www.cmq.org)
- Registration Fee charged by McGill Faculty of Medicine ($50)
- Tuition Fee ($400) to McGill University.
This fee is refunded to applicants who applied for AMCA Quebec Fellowship (see below, 2).
Note: Due to the introduction of the new MDCM program at McGill
University, elective applications for Surgery: Surgical Subspecialties
occurring from July -January and March to April will be closed. General Surgery and Trauma electives remain open
throughout for all students (McGill, Non-McGill).
IMPORTANT: The applicants from Croatia and B&H should inform the program coordinator (ante.padjen@mcgill.ca) the moment they submit the application to the Electives Office and include his email in all correspondence with the office (Ms Mary Cecere).
2. Application for AMCA Quebec Fellowship The online application is opened until November 1 - April 12 each year - for students planing the Electives in the spring - summer period.
The applicants have to be regular students in good standing, registered in the 5th6th year at one of the following medical schools: Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, Osijek and Mostar; the applicants should be 25 years of age or less.

Selection of candidates for AMCA QC fellowship is based on the following criteria: academic achievements (transcript of marks); knowledge of English language, oral and written (TOEFL or an equivalent), ability to communicate and relate to others; letter of references from a person with good knowledge of candidate (preferably from medical profession); interview (date to be announced, usually in late June in Zagreb).
Traveling period (The clerkship can take place anytime between September and May of a schools year according to the availability of places at one of the MUHC hospitals).
