Darius Kovachevich, PEng, 1927-2009  

 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Darius on January 6 at Lakeshore General Hospital in Montreal. Survived by loving wife Biserka and loving son John, his mother Sandra Brown, dear Grandpa to Kiara, Brother Predrag Roman Kovachevich and wife Greta, Nephew Christopher and his children Alyssa and Milan. Darius was born in Zagreb, Croatia where he graduated in Chemical Engineering. Immigrating to Canada in 1954, he worked for Seagram distillery and later for Bechtel International. He was awarded the Gold Medal from the American Engineering Institute for a brilliant engineering feat on a plant built in Quebec and pulled by ice breaker to Cornwallis Island near the geographic North Pole. He was also a proud recipient of the Order of Canada. Many projects of difficult and challenging character were his specialty throughout his distinguished career. Mass and celebration of his Life will be held in the Croatian Catholic Church, 4990 Place de la Savane, Montreal, January 17 at 11 a.m. Published in the Montreal Gazette on 1/14/2009 Notice - Guest Book Create a Memorial Website
